A stranger in a strange land.

Countless times I’ve wished I’d vanish from the center stage and leave my shadow behind, so that I can sneak into the dark shrouds of the opposition that surrounds me. And while my shadow stands there, I play my greatest rival; I lend a heavy hand on myself, so harsh that even my critics would look at their own words against me with doubt if they were enough. It’s wishful thinking. No longer that the spotlights flood my existence on the stage, the shadow deceptively sneaks out to get comfortable in those dark corners and tries to do what I had wanted to, to myself. It wouldn’t fail, had it known me.

All I can do is shrug, listen and wish, another time.

It takes a lot to introspect, to shed ones ego, and to appreciate that there can be more than one correct way of looking at things.

Profound thoughts.They appeal so much more in Hindi.

You are much more profound when it comes to हिंदी, perhaps because of the words you choose.

its an act, some of us always try to perform but fail,..the only truth is the wish to look into our ownself ..and thats what is more important as atleast it saves us from wrong doings to mankind...

you always rock.. this one is the best.. i liked it too much

The Hindi lines are so beautiful Anshul,
Hi,
I always marvel at how you amazingly balance the essence of your thoughts in both the languages while translating...but lagta hain English version thode jaldi mein likha-usko please theek kar ke phir se likho...it is just touching the surface and not going as deep as the Hindi part did!

It is such a pleasure to read both your versions as they touch the reader differently. Infact many a times I have been struck by the English parts more.

I absolutely loved the lines though-we are our best and worst critics-we are the only ones who can satisfy us and the only ones who find problems even in the most blissful of situations.

It's all in us and yet we keep looking outside! Sigh!:-)

I loved the English version more or should I honestly say that I din't know the meaning of a few Hindi words.... How I wish my Hindi was half as good as you... :)

If not to mankind, then at least to ourselves.
Thank You.

@Suruchi
You're right. The hindi version had been with me for quite sometime now. And the english one was, well, for those who don't read Hindi. A translation, if not a word by word translation.
I won't redo this one, but next time, I'll spend more time on the translations too. Thank you for the valuable suggestion and eloquent and lavish praise.

@Tanishka
LOL, it's okay :D

@SUB
You're headed straight, carry on. :)

Egoistic han?
Bring yourself back to light, what best you can do to yourself is be yourself while people criticize.

Take care!! :)

I never thought that I would be fond of reading hindi. But then, I love the way you have written in hindi. Though, some words were hard to figure out, it is very well written :)

The way you describe and write in Hindi is amazing! If I'd written somewhere close to it in my essays, I'd have impressed the examiners hahaha. Anyway now there's no hindi!

But coming to the point, I loveeeeed it. Very balanced and nicely put forth as usual.

Though provoking with a deep beautiful meaning!

Introspection throws uncomfortable questions and answers....needs a lot of guts to analyse and swallow the results...your words convey the mood effectively.
